POUGHKEEPSIE – The Poughkeepsie City School District (PCSD) Board of Education (BOE) is meeting on today (Monday, March 6, 2023) morning at 8:30 a.m. to “Rescind Non-aligned Appointment.” The agenda for the special meeting indicates that the board is slated to rescind the appointment of Roger Ramjug, who was appointed to an administrative position last week, on March 1st.
The same night that Ramjug was being appointed in Poughkeepsie, his resignation was accepted by his current employer, the Newburgh Enlarged City School District (NECSD). Ramjug was an employee of the Newburgh district for nearly 14 years, most recently as “Management Director/Capital Infrastructure Development Administration and his resignation in Newburgh is effective June 30, 2023, keeping him on the Newburgh payroll while he gets paid a salary of $125,000 per year in Poughkeepsie. Ramjug’s first day of work in Poughkeepsie was Friday, March 3, 2023.
Moments after Ramjug was appointed by Poughkeepsie as the “Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Resource Stewardship” last week, Mid-Hudson News learned that Ramjug was being investigated by the Newburgh Board of Ed. That information was relayed to Poughkeepsie Superintendent, Dr. Rosser, and BOE President Tom O’Neill by the reporter who asked for comments. On Thursday, O’Neill said “Last evening the School Board authorized the hiring of Roger Ramjug as our Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Resource Management. The team that vetted Mr. Ramjug thoroughly reviewed his 14 years of administrative experience and recommended he would be an asset to our district.”
Rosser also responded, saying ” I appreciate you bringing this information to my attention. I will work with the PCSD team to further investigate.” The Poughkeepsie Superintendent asked the reporter to provide the contact information of his sources to aid in the investigation. The reporter respectfully declined, citing journalistic integrity.
