PLEASANT VALLEY – Local businesswoman Ola Nesheiwat Hawatmeh has announced her bid to be the next Pleasant Valley Town Supervisor.  Hawatmeh has previously run for the US Congress and most recently ran for Dutchess County Comptroller.  Town Supervisor John DelVecchio has announced that he is not seeking re-election.

A first-generation American and mother of three, Hawatmeh is a native of Dutchess County who started two fashion design companies, OlaStyle, and Mom Me Makeover. While living in St. Louis, Missouri earlier in her career, she earned awards from local business organizations, according to previous campaign material.

Ms. Hawatmeh is seeking the endorsement of both the Republican and Conservative parties in her bid to be the town’s top elected official.

“As a resident of the Town of Pleasant Valley, I want to contribute to my present hometown, Pleasant Valley, and the people that live here,” Hawatmeh told Mid-Hudson News.   “We have suffered through the COVID pandemic, and only now are realizing the side effects and damage it has done,” she said, adding “We need leaders that are actually going to work with the people in the town.”
