Elderly woman seriously injured in Saugerties car crash

SAUGERTIES – A 75-year-old Palenville woman is in stable but serious condition at Albany Medical Center following a one-car crash on Route 32 in Saugerties at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Saugerties Police said.

Patricia Laverty was driving a 2002 Mazda Tribute when it veered off the road and struck several trees before coming to rest.

She was alone in the car, was critically injured and had to be extricated by firefighters from the Saxton Fire Department.

The road was closed for over an hour while police conducted an investigation into the cause of the crash.

State Police assisted Saugerties Police with traffic control.
