State releases graduation data for 2022 school year

MID-HUDSON- Recently released data from the state indicates that graduation rates statewide are up around one percent, from 86 percent in 2021 to 87 percent in 2022. The data reflects students who entered the ninth grade in the 2018-2019 school year and includes graduates who earned both Regents

and local diplomas.

Here is how school districts in the Mid-Hudson region stacked up, by county.

Orange County’s top performing school was the Cornwall Central School District with a 96 percent graduation rate. Rounding out the bottom of the list was the Newburgh Enlarged City School District at 78 percent.

The top graduation rate in Dutchess County went to Pawling School District at 93 percent. Performing at the bottom of the county’s ratings, and the lowest in the Mid-Hudson region, was Poughkeepsie City schools at 60 percent.

Sullivan County’s top performing district was Roscoe CSD with a 95 percent graduation rate. Eldred CSD performed the worst in the county with only 67 percent of students graduating.

Ulster County’s Wallkill School District performed the best in the county with a 96 percent graduation rate and Ellenville Schools performed the lowest at 72 percent.

Finally, in Putnam County, which is home to only five districts, all schools performed above the state graduation average. Haldane, in Cold Spring, took the top spot with 98 percent of students graduating and Brewster finished last in the county at 88 percent.
