BETHEL – It has been 54 years since the Woodstock music festival was held in a field at Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel.

For the last 16 years, the former farm has been home to Bethel Woods, a venue to celebrate the history and times of the original festival and celebrate the current generation of music and culture.

Bethel Woods has a special summer event in the planning stages, said its CEO Eric Frances.

“In a few weeks, hopefully we will be announcing a new multi-day festival in August for the main stage will be on the original ’69 field, which has not been the case for decades, so we’re very excited,” he told regional tourism officials.

Frances said that 2022 was the best year in the history of Bethel Woods in terms of attendance and number of concerts.
