LaValle named to new deputy Ulster exec role

KINGSTON – Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger has named the county’s deputy planning director, Amanda LaValle, to fill the vacant deputy county executive role, a position Metzger has restructured to focus on the green economy, workforce development and climate resilience.

One week ago, the county executive issued an executive order taking steps to advance the county’s climate agenda.

LaValle will be tasked with overseeing many of the directives in the order.

LaValle has served in two roles over her 15 years with the county, beginning in 2008 as the first Department of Environment coordinator, and most recently has been acting as deputy director of planning.

In her hew position, she will also serve as the county’s representative to the Hudson River Drinking Water Intermunicipal Council – The Hudson 7 – a collaborate of the seven communities that draw drinking water from the river – the towns of Esopus, Hyde Park, Lloyd, Poughkeepsie and Rhinebeck, the Village of Rhinebeck and the City of Poughkeepsie.
