TOWN OF WAPPINGER – Several fire departments and EMS personnel responded to the Fresenius Kidney Care Center, also known as Beacon Dialysis Center, on Thursday after a car crashed through the front of the treatment facility.  First responders were dispatched to the center, located in the Stadium Plaza on Route 9D just after 2:00 p.m. on February 2, 2023.

One occupant was still in the car that was more than halfway through the front window of the dialysis center.  Firefighters determined that the occupant was uninjured and worked to remove the person.  An assessment of the building’s occupants determined that there were no major injuries to the people in the suite.

The Chelsea Fire Department requested the Rombout Fire Department to the scene with their specialized airbags to help stabilize the building.  The Village of Fishkill Fire Department was also summoned with the department’s “building collapse trailer” which is equipped with specialized stabilization and shoring equipment.  The three departments secured the stability of the building’s structure so the car was able to be removed.
