KINGSTON – Dave Amato, owner of the popular Ole Savannah restaurant in Kingston, and his team are bringing a new offering to Uptown Kingston. Expected to open in early Spring, Brickmen Kitchen + Bar will be located at 47 North Front Street, the site of the former Boitson’s Restaurant.

The name “Brickmen” nods to Kingston’s rich industrial history and pays homage to Dave Amato’s grandfather, Joseph “Joe” “Skookie” Amato. Brickmaking was a thriving industry in Kingston in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, offering employment for European immigrants, who produced millions of bricks to be used in building and infrastructure projects in the Hudson Valley and New York City. Joseph Amato was employed in the brickyards from the age of 9 years old, working his way up through the company and eventually helping to found the Brick Handler’s Union, serving as its President in the 1950-1960s.

Brickmen Kitchen + Bar will offer modern dining that puts a global spin on local Hudson Valley flavors. The restaurant is designed by Jackson Creative Group, with a warm, vintage vibe that will appeal to locals and out-of-towners alike. With an open kitchen format, Brickmen Kitchen + Bar will provide indoor and outdoor dining options, complete with an outdoor bar and deck. Certified Master Chef Dale Miller will act as consulting chef for the restaurant. Chef Miller is one of only 68 Certified Master Chefs in the United States, and he is also a Fellow of the Culinary Institute of America’s Alumni Board.
