CARMEL – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has arrested Jaznia McCrae and Naije Perrette, both 23-year-old Beacon residents after the two were involved in a violent domestic incident in Philipstown on January 26 at approximately 11:50 p.m.

Putnam County Sheriff Kevin McConville said the two began fighting after McCrae learned that Perrette had gone to a Nets basketball game with his new girlfriend and McCrae attempted to run Perrette off of the road.

According to Sheriff McConville,  Jaznia McCrae began to track and follow her ex-boyfriend Perrette and located him driving north on Route 9  on January 26th.  The sheriff’s office investigation determined that the angered ex-girlfriend used her vehicle to intentionally ram Perrette’s car and also side-swiped him in an attempt to run him off the road.

The two parties eventually pulled over and stopped in a parking lot, where the fight continued.  Investigators say that McCrae poured motor oil on Perrette and also poured oil inside of his car and the exterior as well.  The oil-soaked Perrette then assaulted McCrae, causing multiple minor injuries.

After assaulting his former paramour, Mr. Perrette took a car battery out of the trunk of his vehicle and threw it repeatedly at Ms. McCrae’s vehicle, causing extensive damage to the exterior including breaking the rear windshield and multiple windows.

After beating the car with a battery, Perrette fled the scene in his car, heading north.  The New York State Police assisted the PCSO in locating Perrette a short time later in the Village of Wappingers Falls and arrested him on felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor assault.  He was arraigned in the Town of Kent Justice Court and released with an appearance ticket for a later court date.  He was served with an order of protection to stay away from McCrae after arraignment.

McCrae was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she was treated and released on the same day.  After leaving the hospital, McCrae turned herself in to the PCSO on January 30th.  She was arrested on two felony counts of reckless endangerment, felony criminal mischief, and misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle because her driving privileges had previously been suspended.

McCrae, currently on probation in Dutchess County as a result of a lengthy criminal history, was arraigned in Philipstown Justice Court and remanded to the Putnam County Jail on $500 bail.
