POUGHKEEPSIE – Shawn Magliocchino, 28, who held police at bay during an armed standoff on Wednesday has been charged with a felony after displaying a shotgun at a deputy during an eviction on Pleasant View Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie on Wednesday morning.  Magliocchino surrendered after a few hours, was arrested, and arraigned on the felony of menacing a police or peace officer.  After arraignment, the subject was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

The incident began shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday when a deputy from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the address to begin the physical eviction process against the subject and his mother, who resided with him in the residence.  The eviction proceeding had been ongoing and both Magliocchino and his mother were warned that January 25, 2023, was going to be their last day in the residence.

When the deputy arrived, Mr. Magliocchino brandished a shotgun, forcing her deputy to seek cover.  The subject indicated that he was not being evicted and barricaded himself in the residence with his deaf mother.  A large contingent of law enforcement from multiple agencies, including unmanned aerial units (drones) from the DCSO  and Emergency Services Units b(ESU) from the DCSO and Town of Poughkeepsie Police, secured the neighborhood throughout the standoff until the subject surrendered without incident at 12:20 p.m.  The subject’s mother vacated the residence unharmed and agencies were working to provide her with temporary shelter.
