Pedestrian shoots at car in New Windsor after it hits vehicles and fire hydrant

NEW WINDSOR – Police are investigating an incident on the New Windsor-Newburgh city line involving and erratic driver and shots fired at the car.

Just after 6 p.m. on Sunday, New Windsor, City of Newburgh and Cornwall Town Police responded to the area of Route 9W and John Street for a report of an erratic driver operating a dark color Acura.

As officers were responding to the area, reports were received of possible gunshots in the same area.

Preliminary investigation, police said, indicated the Acura was involved in several motor vehicle accidents with several vehicles, a fire hydrant, and several signs in the area.

At some point during the incident, the Acura was shot at by a pedestrian; no one was hit.

Police did not say if they had detained the driver of the car.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call New Windsor Police at 845-565-7000.
