PLEASANT VALLEY – Developers planning to build housing units on property on Wigsten Road in the town withdrew their application on Friday afternoon.  The developers, owners of “71 Wigsten Road LLC” were scheduled to appear before the town board on Monday evening to seek approval for the rezoning of three Wigsten Road parcels totaling 41 acres.

Former Dutchess County Legislator and Pleasant Valley resident Suzanne Horn staunchly opposes the plan to build a development similar to Eastdale Village in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

According to Horn, more than 500 residents signed a petition in opposition of the project and were prepared to vocalize their discontent with the proposal at Monday’s meeting.

Horn said the withdrawal of the application was preferable to the developers compared to having the plan voted down by the town board.
