MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Legislator Alan Sorensen (R, Rock Hill) will not seek reelection this fall.
Sorensen, whose fulltime job is as Orange County planning commissioner, told Mid-Hudson News that he plans to spend more time with his family once his current term is completed.
“I am just looking to simplify a little bit and spend a little more time with my family,” he said. “I am certainly proud of my accomplishments in Sullivan County, but I am really focused on the work I am doing here (in Orange County).”
Sorensen has served on the Sullivan County Legislature for 16 years and on many issues, he is often the deciding vote.
