KINGSTON – The state has awarded the Kingston Housing Authority $39.6 million to rehabilitate the 120-residents Stuyvesant Apartments.

Originally constructed in 1972, the building will undergo extension repairs and replacement of systems to extend the useful life of the facility, improve safety and quality of life for residents, and increase energy efficiency.

Kingston Mayor Steven Noble lauded the plans.

“This project is going to help the Kingston Housing Authority and their private development partners be able to renovate these apartments, be able to make sure they meet ADA accessibility, make sure they are perfect for many seniors to be able to live in for many years to come,” he said.

State officials said by funding those repairs, financing for the project will help preserve long-term affordability for residents of the building.
