PEEKSKILL – A fire on January 5 at the Hillcrest Park Condominiums in Peekskill destroyed an entire building with 16 homes and displaced 28 people.

Fortunately, no one was injured, but the families lost everything.

The Salvation Army of Peekskill stepped up immediately to aid those family with emergency food and counseling services.

Now, the organization wants to do more for them, said Major Rickie Armour.

“What we are trying to help with is first month security, first month’s rent and also with utilities and clothing as funds are available,” he said. “If we don’t have anything, we’re not able to give it out.”

Major Armour said they are only accepting monetary donations, which can be provided via www.salvationarmyny.org/peekskill.
