MILLERTON – Democrat Claire Owens of Millerton has announced her candidacy for the 19th District on the Dutchess County Legislature.
“In just the last few weeks, we have seen the dysfunction of the Republican majority at a federal level,” she said. “Unfortunately, that same debilitating inaction is ongoing here in Dutchess County in the legislature. The party politics and partisan quest for personal gain has broken our legislative system.”
Owens said residents “can’t afford this type of unsatisfactory governing in Washington, and we certainly cannot afford it here in Dutchess County.”
The 10-year resident of Millerton operates a communications firm.
