Ghost gun seized by Beacon police in January.

BEACON –A 35-year-old Beacon man has been arrested in possession of a 9 mm semi-automatic ghost gun and a 31-round high-capacity magazine.

Charles Plowden of Forrestal Heights was arrested after a caller told Beacon City Police, they spotted a man drop a gun in a store and retrieve it.

Officers located Plowden ands the weapon, which was assembled from parts or kits that include no serial number.

The high-capacity magazine was loaded with 24 rounds of ammunition. State law allows a maximum of seven bullets in the clip of a legally possessed gun.

Plowden was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and a misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of a certain ammunition feeding device.

The suspect refused to be fingerprinted during the arrest processing and was additionally charged with obstructing government administration.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $15,000 cash bail, $30,000 bond or $60,000 partially secured bond pending a future court appearance.
