YORKTOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial was held today (Saturday) for fallen Yorktown Police Officer Kenneth Sgroi, who died suddenly on January 2.
He was 37 years old.
Sgroi grew up on Long Island and graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2006.
He graduated from the police academy in November 2007 and started his career as a Dutchess County deputy sheriff.
In March 2009, he transferred to the Yorktown Police Department where he rose through the ranks from a patrolman to sergeant and in July 2022, as lieutenant.
He is survived by his wife, Anne, and children, Gabriella, 5, and three-year-old Joseph.
Interment followed the mass at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
