ALBANY – State Senator James Skoufis (D, Cornwall) will continue on as chairman of the Senate Investigations and Government Operations Committee in the new year.

He was sworn in to a third term this past week and will continue to investigate and expose waste, fraud, and abuse, and work to exercise effective oversight over state government.

He said in 2023 he will work to advance legislation that curbs corporate welfare and drives reform of industrial development agencies, holds environmental bad actors to account, continues to implement universal pre-k in Orange County, and empowers first responders and their families.

Skoufis’ new 42nd District includes most of Orange County, but loses the greater Newburgh area, which is now represented by Senator Rob Rolison (R, Poughkeepsie).
