Orange County pair arrested with stolen car and gun

TOWN OF WOODBURY – A Town of Wallkill woman and a Newburgh man have been arrested by Woodbury Town Police following a traffic stop at Routes 32 and 17 in the Town of Woodbury for a reported stolen vehicle from Ulster County.

The alert was received from a stationary license plate reader.

The driver of the vehicle in the early afternoon stop on January 2, Kristin Hoffman, 30, allegedly stole the vehicle, according to a complaint from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

During the roadside investigation conducted by Det. Roman, Police Officers Medina, Schust, and Coe, the passenger, identified as Andrew Hunt, 26, of Newburgh, was found in possession of a stolen firearm and narcotics.

Both were charged with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of stolen property.

Hunt was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail and a $200,000 bond.

Hoffman was turned over to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant.
