  1. POUGHKEEPSIE – Bill O’Neil, who most recently served Dutchess County Government as deputy county executive, was sworn in (Tuesday) as county executive for the year.

He replaces Marcus Molinaro, who resigned after being elected to the House of Representatives last fall.

O’Neil said there are a number of ongoing projects that need shepherding.

“There are things you have to do, certainly in the public works area, we begin projects all the time that are multi-year projects,” he said. “I would lean more towards a caretaker trying to make sure we do things well, we’re productive we’re efficient and we move along the projects that we have started.”

O’Neil said the decades of leadership provided by Molinaro and Bill Steinhaus before him, have placed Dutchess in the forefront of county governments across the state.
