MIDDLETOWN – A Middletown woman has been arrested and charged with obstructing governmental administration and assault following an incident on Crescent Place in the City of Middletown at 2:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Police had responded for a report of a vehicle trying to run someone over. Arriving officers found an unconscious man on the ground and administered first aid.

Katelyn Stevens, 36, told police the man was attempted to rob her.

As troopers were speaking to her about the alleged robbery, Middletown Police were taking another person into custody. As troopers assisted with that arrest, Stevens became aggressive and attempted to stop the arrest, yelling at the officers and punching one trooper in the face.

She was restrained and arrested and she spit blood in the face of the arresting trooper.

The trooper was treated and released at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill.

Stevens was arraigned and released on her own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
