HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Anil Beephan Jr. (R, C – Hopewell Junction) is the new state assemblyman for the 105th District. He will be the first minority to represent Dutchess County in the state legislature and is the first Republican of Indian descent to serve in the State Assembly.

He previously served as an East Fishkill town councilman.

The new lawmaker said he will “work tirelessly to provide accessible representation to my constituents in the 105th Assembly District and advocate for all New Yorkers alike.”

He cited, “public safety, wasteful spending, and onerous taxes (as) major problems affecting our residents, and they must be addressed immediately.” Making the state more energy independent is another of his goals.

Beephan will serve on the following legislative committees for the 2023-2024 cycle:

  •   Cities
  •   Consumer Affairs and Protection
  •   Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry
  •   Governmental Operations
  •   Local Governments
  •   Social Services
