Two Bronx men arrested in connection with theft of Ulster County Sheriff’s Office gun

KINGSTON – Two Bronx men have been charged in connection with several larcenies from vehicles in the towns of Wawarsing, Rochester and Shawangunk.

In some instances, cars themselves were stolen and in one case, an Ulster County Sheriff’s Office firearm was stolen from a sheriff’s office vehicle.

The gun was later recovered during a police operation in the Bronx and the deputy was suspended for 30 days.

Eric Rodriguez, 27, was charged with five counts of criminal possession of a weapon, four counts of criminal possession of stolen property, and four counts of grand larceny.

Mario Rodriguez, 22, was charged with three counts of grand larceny and three counts of petit larceny.

Sheriff’s detectives were assisted by Town of Lloyd Police, Rosendale Police, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Village of Ellenville Police, New York City Police, the US Marshals Service, Garden City, New Jersey  Police, Palisades Interstate Parkway Police, State Police, New Paltz Police, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, and City of Yonkers Police.
