MID-HUDSON – Friday’s storm caused “moderate” flooding at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie as the Hudson River reached high tide at 12:05 p.m.  Moderate flooding, according to the National Weather Service, is when a stream or river has risen over the banks and reached structures such as buildings or roadways.

The river overflowed its banks on both the east and west sides when the heavy rains came causing flooding in Saugerties, Milton and Athens among other locations.

The storm arrived on Friday with rain, heavy at times, high winds, and temperatures approaching 50 degrees at 11:30 a.m.  As the temperatures began to drop, snow began to mix with the rain.

The temperatures rapidly began falling in the late afternoon and by early Saturday they were in the low single digits across the region.
