Fallsburg man arrested for stabbing his grandfather

FALLSBURG – A 24-year-old Fallsburg man has been charged with assault for allegedly stabbing his grandfather in the abdomen.

The incident occurred on Friday, December 16.

The 69-year-old victim initially sought treatment at urgent care on Concord Road in Monticello but was taken by Mobile Medic Ambulance to Garnett Health Medical Center Catskills in Harris, but later transferred to Garnett Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill where he underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies determined the attack had occurred at a residence on Route 42 in South Fallsburg and that the alleged assailant was the victim’s grandson.

A bulletin was issued for police to be on the lookout for Supreme Faison who was spotted the next morning at about 4:30 by Fallsburg Police. They notified deputies who took him into custody at an apartment complex on Laurel Avenue in South Fallsburg.

Faison was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Sheriff Mike Schiff said the investigation is continuing and additional charges may be filed.
