Arrest warrant for man wanted on Liberty village strangulation charge

LIBERTY – An active search warrant has been issued for a man wanted on a charge of strangulation in connection with an alleged incident in the Village of Liberty.

Austin McHaney, 33, is also wanted for criminal mischief for preventing an emergency call.

He is described as being five feet, eight inches tall, weighing 155 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

McHaney is believed to be driving a white 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with California registration 24197W2.

Anyone with information concerning McHaney’s whereabouts is asked to contact Liberty Village Police at 845-292-4422 or email the department’s warrant officer at lwilliams@libertyvillageny.org.

Police said no one should take any police action themselves other than contacting the police and do not post tips on Facebook.
