GREENVILLE – State Police say the driver of a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer killed on Interstate 84 in the Town of Greenville Thursday evening was from Lancaster, Ohio.

The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m. on I-84 eastbound.

Preliminary investigation revealed Timothy Suer, 69, was driving when his rig left the roadway, crashed into a ditch on the side of the road, striking a guide rail, jackknifed and came to rest after hitting a tree.

Suer, who was the only person in the truck, was found dead in the driver’s seat still wearing his seatbelt.

He was removed with the assistance of the Mountain View Fire Department.

Police found a small brown dog alive in the cab and turned it over to the Town of Deerpark dog warden.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, although it was snowing and the highway was slippery.
