ALBANY – Cohoes City Court Judge Thomas Marcelle has been elected to the State Supreme Court in the Third Judicial District following completion of a hand counting of ballots.

The recount verified a lead held by Marcelle since the polls closed with lead of 794 votes over the fourth-place finisher.

There were four candidates for three seats on the bench.

The Third Judicial District includes seven counties – Sullivan, Greene, Ulster, Greene, Albany, Rensselaer, and Schoharie.

Marcelle ran on the Republican and Conservative lines. The last endorsed candidate to win on those lines in that district was in 2014.
