New Windsor man charged with assault after woman stabbed

NEW WINDSOR – A 51-year-old New Windsor man has been charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon following an incident in an apartment at Copper Court in the town at around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.

New Windsor Police were called to the residence where they found a chaotic scene with several people present, two of whom were injured and bleeding.

A 32-year-old woman had a puncture wound to her abdomen and the man, identified as Gerald Jackson, had a puncture wound to his shoulder.

Both were transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh by New Windsor Emergency Medical Services ambulance where they were treated and released.

Investigation by police developed probable cause to believe that the man had stabbed the woman with a knife. Exactly how the man was injured remains under investigation.

Jackson was released to probation and a stay away order of protection was issued.
