Saugerties man sentenced to prison for child pornography

ALBANY – A 73-year-old man has been sentenced to over seven years in federal prison for receiving and possessing child pornography.

Robert Morales of Saugerties pled guilty on July 15, 2021 when he admitted that between May 2014 and November 2017 that he used a computer with peer-to-peer file-sharing to receive and make available for download, child pornography.

He also possessed child pornography on seven other devices that were seized from his home.

All of his devices combined contained about 36 video files and 1,182 image files depicting child pornography.

In addition to his prison sentence, Morales must serve 15 years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and $15,000 in restitution to five of the victims in the materials he possessed. He will also be required to register as a sex offender when released from prison.
