HYDE PARK – The Dutchess County Drug Task Force arrested 28-year-old Jamie Velie on felony drug charges after an investigation into the sale of counterfeit Oxycodone pills that were actually Fentanyl.  Velie was arrested at his Haviland Mobile Home Park trailer on Andrea Court on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the mobile home after an investigation that focused on the rise of counterfeit Oxycodone pills, imprinted with “M-30” being sold throughout Dutchess County.  The counterfeit pills contained deadly levels of Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent.

Dutchess County Sheriff Kirk Imperati said, “Fentanyl is causing deadly overdoses throughout Dutchess County.”  The sheriff also praised the efforts put forth by the task force. “The work the Dutchess County Drug Task Force does day in and day out holds drug dealers accountable and helps prevent drug overdoses from occurring.”

Velie was arraigned in the Hyde Park Justice Court on Friday and released on an appearance ticket ordering him to appear back in court on December 22, 2022.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force currently consists of investigators from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and representatives from the City of Beacon, the Town of Hyde Park, the Town of East Fishkill, and the City of Poughkeepsie police departments.

The Task Force encourages anyone seeking assistance with drug addiction or treatment to call the Dutchess County HELPLINE at 845-485-9700, or walk into the Stabilization Center at 230 North Road in Poughkeepsie.
