WHITE PLAINS – A Spring Valley man has been indicted on charges that he shot a Yonkers man in October.

Nahkeem Janvier, 21, was indicted by a Westchester County grand jury on charges of attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and assault, said District Attorney Miriam Rocah.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.

It is alleged that on October 19, at about 2:45 a.m., Janvier shot the 33-year-old victim, who was treated at a nearby hospital.

The suspect was apprehended in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 23 by the FBI’s Charlotte Violence Crime Task Force and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension team, following an investigation by Yonkers Police, Spring Valley Police, the FBI’s Westchester County Safe Streets Task Force and the county District Attorney’s Office. The county’s Department of Public Safety assisted Yonkers Police with Janvier’s extradition and arrest.
