ALBANY – Given the state Department of Environmental Conservation’s issuance of five stop-work orders ignored by the developers of the Clovewood/Lake Ann project in the Village of South Blooming Grove,

State Senator James Skoufis is urging the state agency to “promptly levy the steepest possible fines” against the company.

The recently re-elected senator also urged the DEC to “take any other enforcement measures deemed necessary to halt work at the Clovewood site.”

In a letter to Natalie Brown, environmental program specialist at the DEC, Skoufis said he has “long expressed concern regarding the unprecedented environmental and quality-of-life impacts posed by this development.”

He said, “given the developers’ flagrant violation of these mounting DEC directives” the agency should take prompt action to stop the work.
