GOSHEN – The Newburgh man who is charged in the homicide of a man and wounding of a five-year-old boy, has been extradited from North Carolina and a murder indictment has been unsealed.

Lamont Williams, 29, allegedly shot and killed Daquan Corbett, 29, in the City of Newburgh on September 29. The child was also struck and wounded by gunfire.

Williams fled to North Carolina following the incident, was tracked down and brought back to New York to face the charges.

He has been indicted on charges of murder, criminal possession of a weapon and assault.

“Those who commit senseless violent acts will not escape the long arm of the law,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. He credited the many law enforcement agencies both in Orange County and North Carolina for tracking Williams down, arresting him, and returning him to New York.
