POUGHKEEPSIE – The demolition of the Pulaski Park Bathhouse is nearly completed and plans for the replacement are being developed by Poughkeepsie City officials.  The new bathhouse will be constructed in the spring of 2023.

Improvements have been taking place throughout the city’s 18 parks for more than a year and the work is continuing.  When the Pulaski Park project is completed, the bathhouse at the Spratt Park Pool will be renovated.

At least $5 million of American Rescue Plan Act funding has been used for several of the projects.  A specific breakdown of the park improvements can be found here.

The city’s Parks Infrastructure and Enhancements Plan was developed with the assistance of New City Parks, an offspring of the Regional Plan Association. The plan consists of two types of improvements: Park upgrades and large capital improvement projects. Park upgrades consist of small projects, such as repairs to existing playgrounds, additional lighting and tables and grills, and improvements to basketball courts. Large capital project items are more complex in nature and, as a result, will most likely require environmental reviews and regulatory permits, such as rail-trail links and boat dock upgrades, and shoreline stabilization at municipal waterfront parks, Mayor Rob Rolison told Mid-Hudson News.

Mayor Rolison was elected to the New York State Senate and will take his oath of office in January.  Current City Administrator Marc Nelson will become the city’s mayor on January 1, 2023.
