Bronx man charged with illegal gun possession in Monroe

MONROE – A vehicle and traffic stop on Route 17 in the Town of Monroe just before 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving, November 24, resulted in the arrest of a Bronx man on a charge of illegal possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun.

State Police stopped a purple 2022 Dodge Charger traveling westbound

at a high rate of speed.

Matthew Bodiford, 32, was determined to be impaired by drugs resulting in his arrest.

A search of his car yielded marijuana cigarettes, a white pill determined to be Percocet, and the loaded gun.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, driving while ability impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Bodiford was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
