Peekskill shooting suspect apprehended

PEEKSKILL – A 19-year-old Peekskill man has been charged with attempted murder and other offenses in connection with the shooting of another man minutes before 12 noon on Wednesday, November 9.

Peekskill Police found the victim, a 31-year-old Peekskill man, lying on the sidewalk; he had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper leg.

Officers performed life-saving measures on the victim before he was transported to Westchester Medical Center in unstable condition, according to authorities.

At about 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, detectives with the assistance of the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, apprehended the suspect identified as Dimitri Jones, at a residence on the 600 block of Roosevelt Avenue in Peekskill.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, Jones was also charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.
