LAGRANGE – The Town of Lagrange transfer station will be closing effective January 1, 2023, according to Town Supervisor Alan Bell.  The transfer station is currently operated by Royal Carting.  LaGrange residents will have the opportunity to use the neighboring Town of Union Vale transfer station to dispose of their household waste.

The supervisor told Mid-Hudson News that Royal Carting, based in Hopewell Junction, did not provide a reason for the cancellation, other than the company no longer wished to operate the facility.

For years, the town has put out bids for transfer station operators to run the facility and Royal Carting has been the only company to respond to the bid.

Supervisor Bell said “We have made residents aware of alternative sites, including Royal’s transfer station in Hopewell and the Union Vale station, which is open to non-residents of Union Vale,” adding ” We (Town of LaGrange) won’t have an operational station after the end of the year.”
