MOUNT HOPE – Reconstruction of the Lake Horton Bridge, which carries Orange County Route 18 (New Vernon Road) over the Shawangunk Kill in the Town of Mount Hope has been completed.

The project is the second Orange County highway bridge reconstructed utilizing repurposed panels salvaged from the Tappan Zee Bridge when it was dismantled. The bridge design and construction were completed by the County Department of Public Works.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus said using the repurposed TZ Bridge panels has saved taxpayers money.

Using the panels considerably shortened the Lake Horton Bridge project’s construction timetable and reduced its cost by approximately $165,000.
