KINGSTON – Michelle Hinchey defeated Sue Serino in the new 41st State Senate District.
Both were senators in their former districts and Hinchey said running against a colleague was awkward.
“Unfortunately, in these moments in redistricting years some crazy things happen and we happen to be right in the middle of it,” she said.
Hinchey, a Democrat, defeated the Republican Serino by over 6,000 votes. Hinchey is the daughter of the popular late Congressman Maurice Hinchey.
