NEWBURGH – Sullivan County hospitality developer Sims Foster has closed on three buildings in downtown Newburgh, which he will transform into upscale dining and hotel space, Mayor Torrance Harvey told Mid-Hudson News.

Orange County previously owned the former Masonic Lodge, YWCA and American Legion buildings on Grand Street.

The mayor said the project will be transformative for the city.

“It’s going to be amazing. World-class dining, lounges, restaurants, world renown chefs, hotel, rooms and things like that,” he said.

The project, just off Broadway, is adjacent to the SUNY Orange Newburgh campus, Newburgh Free Library and other historic facilities.
