Nineteen-year-old charged with shooting 15-year-old

YONKERS – Police in Yonkers have arrested a 19-year-old Yonkers man on an attempted murder charge in connection with the shooting of a 15-year-old boy in that city late on the night of October 26.

Joseph Tejera was also charged with weapons possession.

Police said that the victim was in front of 290 Woodworth Avenue with several others when Tejera approached them, allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at least three shots, striking the victim at least twice in his lower body.

Tejera fled the scene and was apprehended in Yonkers on Wednesday, November 2. The motive for the shooting is being investigated.
