Woman’s car winds up in Plattekill Creek

Police are investigating why a woman's car ran off the road and into the Plattekill Creek

SAUGERTIES – Police in Saugerties are continuing to investigate why a woman’s vehicle wound up in the Plattekill Creek in the area of 764 Glasco Turnpike in Saugerties late on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 2010 Subaru Outback driven on Glasco Turnpike by 60-year-old Marlene Somers drove off the road, down the creek embankment and into Plattekill Creek.

She was uninjured in the crash, was evaluated by paramedics from Diaz Ambulance and refused any further medical attention.

Saugerties Police were assisted at the scene by Steyer’s Automotive Towing, Diaz Ambulance, Mount Marion Fire Department and the Ulster Hose Fire Department Water Rescue Team.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
