HYDE PARK – Police Chief Robert Benson has issued an advisory after at least three cars had their catalytic converters stolen during the overnight hours of October 24th into October 25th.  Benson is asking for the community to take notice of any suspicious activity and report it to the police immediately.

One of the thefts occurred in the village section of the town and the other two were reported stolen from car owners in Hyde Park Heights.  Benson said it is possible that others were stolen but have yet to be reported.
There may be more that have not been reported.
“These crimes are on the rise and residents need to make sure if they hear any suspicious noises outside or any suspicious activity they need to call the police immediately,” Benson said while noting that the thefts occur at night, and thieves use a metal cutting saw to remove them so there should be some noise associated with the thefts.
The Hyde Park Police Department can be reached at 845-229-9340.
