Crews replace section of antiquated water main

NEWBURGH – Two water main breaks that erupted in the area of Little Britain Road in the City of Newburgh were repaired early Thursday, less than 24 hours after both erupted near Ellis Avenue.

A boil water notice remains in effect until further notice.

City crews removed and replaced broken sections of a 12-inch cast iron high pressure main and a 20-inch low pressure main.

The affected area of Little Britain Road between Wisner Avenue and Cerone Place remains closed as construction crews continue work to repair the storm sewer pipes, manholes and roadway infrastructure that was destroyed by the breaks.
