ELLENVILLE – State Police from the Ellenville barracks have arrested a Kerhonkson man on several felony assault charges for allegedly attacking and severely injuring two people by striking them with a rock.
David Underhill-Hval, 34, was arrested on this past Wednesday, October 5, in connection with an assault that occurred at a residence on Dymond Road in Accord on the afternoon of Saturday, September 3.
Troopers alleged that Underhill-Hval violently assaulted someone, striking the victim on the head several times with a rock causing severe injuries. When another person intervened, he was also attacked and injured, suffering several bruises and lacerations on body, police said.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
While police found the weapon, they were unable to locate the alleged attacker.
Investigators followed several leads to locate Underhill-Hval and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He turned himself into police this past Wednesday and was charged with two felony counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanors of assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of bail.
State Police were assisted in the investigation by Saugerties Police.
