GOSHEN – Goshen High School implemented its hold-in-place protocol on Thursday morning after a student reported they had received an Air Drop message at 8:38 a.m. about “shooting up the school.”

Following an hour’s long search, the threat was deemed non-credible.

Goshen Police and State Police responded to the scene and conducted an investigation including the use of a K-9 to search for the possibility of explosives or other dangerous substances.

The police checked the cell phones of all students who were in the gym class when the Air Drop message was received and they said that at this time, its original is undetermined.

Out of an abundance of caution, additional police officers were on hand for the remainder of the school day on Thursday and will be at the school on Friday.

District officials also said they will examine the school calendar’s upcoming events to determine whether they may be affected by the situation.

“District officials recognize that an event such as this may be traumatic for some students; our counselors are available should any student need support,” they wrote.
