Arrest made in Fishkill pizzeria shooting

FISHKILL – A 42-year-old Fishkill resident is facing several felony charges after allegedly firing a gun into a Fishkill pizzeria on Sunday afternoon.  No injuries were reported as a result of the 2:00 p.m. shooting at Antonella’s Pizza in the Shop Rite Plaza on Route 9 in the Village of Fishkill.

The suspect, later identified as Gary Bonventre Jr., was located at his residence on Saratoga Lane in Fishkill just before 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and was taken into custody without incident.

Bonventre is charged with six counts of attempted assault, one count of criminal use of a firearm, one count of criminal possession of a weapon, and six counts of reckless endangerment.  All of the charges are felonies.

At the time of the arrest, investigators recovered a Rohm .22 short caliber revolver.

Bonventre was arraigned in the Village of Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail, a $100,000 secure bond, or a $1,000,000 partially secure bond.

Bonventre is scheduled to reappear before the court on October 17, at 9:30 a.m.
