Kingston man arrested for possession of a defaced gun

KINGSTON – A man stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation while driving on Foxhall Avenue in the City of Kingston has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number.

State Police attempted to stop the 2007 Subaru Legacy driven by Duane Dumas, 39, at around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, October 2. He didn’t comply initially, but finally did so at Manor Avenue and Elmendorf Street.

He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Troopers also charged Dumas with misdemeanors of weapon’s possession, obstructing governmental administration, and fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle. He was also issued 10 tickets.

Dumas was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

State Police were assisted by Kingston City Police.
